National Academy of Engineering - North Carolina State University and Duke University hosted a Grand Challenges Summit on March 3-5 in Raleigh, NC.The Raleigh Summit is a high profile venue to help prepare the next generation of engineers to address the "grand challenge” level issues that will shape the 21st century. The Summit touched on all fourteen Grand Challenges through a general discussion of American Innovation and Competitiveness and so should be of interest to all engineering disciplines. However, the event focused on the grand challenge themes of energy sustainability, health, and nuclear security. Participants should leave the Summit with a heightened awareness of the link between technology and public policy on the world stage. Watch video of the Energy Grand Challenges session
