Wall Street Journal (Whitehouse) - In an article titled, "Radical Shifts Take Hold In U.S. Manufacturing," reports that in response to weak demand stemming from the recession major US manufacturers are cutting industrial capacity. The Journal says that the long term consequences of diminished capacity include higher unemployment because there will be fewer manufacturing positions to fill even after the economy recovers.
